In-map claim workspace

Joining is now one task: open the map, outline a rectangle, check the price and rules, submit, then bind content on the spot. You never leave the map and never have to open the editor first.

Entering and leaving

Click Claim on the map to open the workspace. If you already own blocks, you can also use Manage block from search, the plaza or a detail card. Signed-out visitors are asked to log in first and return to the map afterwards — nothing is lost.

There are four ways out: the back control in the panel, the Esc key, switching to another region, or "Later" after a successful claim. The map returns to the view and selection you had before entering.

Outlining an area

  1. Drag a rectangle

Hold the left mouse button and drag. Cells recolour live, so you can see whether each one can be claimed before releasing.

  2. Fine-tune with the keyboard

Arrow keys move the whole selection by one cell; Shift + arrow extends it. At an edge or the size limit it shrinks back instead.

  3. On mobile

One finger pans, two fingers zoom. Long-press an available cell for about 0.3 s to start selecting and lift to finish. A one-time gesture hint appears on first entry.

  • Blue: claimable right away
  • Amber: requires the region owner to approve
  • Grey: reserved, nobody can claim it
  • Solid block: already owned
  • Dashed outline: your application is waiting for review

The filters under the legend narrow the map to one category: claimable, needs approval, or mine. Starting a new selection switches back to All so hidden cells never sneak into a selection.

A single selection is capped at 100 cells and 10 cells per side. Go past it and the selection shrinks back to the limit.

Quote and rules

Once the selection is set, the panel shows the total price and the verdict for every rule. Blockers appear before the submit button — you never have to submit to find out something is not allowed.

ItemWhat it means
Claim feeCharged per cell and multiplied by the selection size; free worlds show 0
Points thresholdThe world points you must still hold after the fee; checked, not charged
Claim quotaNewcomers start at 3 cells, +1 per active day up to 10; trusted residents up to 50
Approval modeRegions that require owner approval create a pending application valid for 14 days
Reserved cellsGenesis and other reserved coordinates can never be claimed

Merging adjacent blocks

With two or more adjacent blocks you can merge them into a single larger block. Before merging you see every eligible neighbour and a preview of the resulting shape on the map.

  • You choose the primary block, and with it the title, cover and content that survive
  • The cell count does not change — only the ownership goes from several blocks to one
  • Combinations containing nested regions or conflicting content are marked unmergeable with a reason

Managing blocks you own

Click your own block to open My blocks: check whether content is bound, jump into the editor, merge, or release. Releasing turns the cells back into empty space; the claim fee is not refunded.

Region owners also get a Review tab to approve or reject applications one by one, alongside the block count, your own blocks and the points balance.

Sharing a location

The selected coordinates and size are written into the URL. Send that link to anyone and they land on exactly the same cells. A link that carries a block id opens that block instead.

Links only carry the location, not permissions: whether the recipient can claim there still depends on their account and the region rules.

Frequently asked questions

Why did cells turn grey halfway through selecting?
Either the selection touched a reserved or already-owned cell, or it went past the limit of 100 cells / 10 cells per side. Shrink it and the selection becomes submittable again.
Can a merged block be split again?
Not at the moment. Check the primary block and the preview before merging; if you really need a different shape, release and claim again.
Am I charged if a claim fails?
No. Points and quota are checked before submitting and nothing is written to the ledger unless the claim succeeds.
